Granton School Board Reviews District Report Card

-The Granton School Board began their meeting on Monday reviewing the district’s school report card.

Principal Amanda Kraus, School Counselor Shelly Schmitz, & Fifth Grade Teacher Kim Aumann reviewed the information on the Granton Area Schools state report cards. The board also approved the Chapter 3 School Board Policies related to the Administration, they approved logging the school forest west of the school and they approved the open enrollment space availability for the 2020-2021 school year. Finally, the board approved the Certification of the School Board Candidates Cheryl Steinbach and Doug Eichten. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Amanda Kraus reported on Staff Professional Development. On their January PD day, staff will be taking part in crisis education from the Clark County Crisis Deputies. They will be further educated on what to look for, listen for and how to quickly respond to a crisis situation. She also reported on curricula updates. UW-River Falls has opened up an Intro to Teaching class that the district has two students interested in for next year. These students will get Distance Learning instruction from a UW-River Falls Instructor and then be paired up with a teaching mentor at Granton to continue their education hands on in the classroom.

She also stated the art classes will again be putting on an Art Show. This will be happening in the Granton Community Center on January 17th. Community are invited and students K-12 will be bused over to celebrate the accomplishments of the district’s artists. Finally, she stated the school district will be conducting a sale of items that are not needed and have been in storage. The funds generated from the sale will be used to purchase new furniture for the classrooms. Superintendent Scott Woodington reported that a Spring Primary Election is not needed and the Spring Election is April 7th, the final fiscal and program reports were submitted to the Department of Justice for the safety grants and information was presented on the 2020-2021 Preliminary Budget.
