Loyal School Board Reviews Comments from Recent Recruit and Retain Committee Meeting

Friday, January 17th, 2020 -- 9:43 AM

-The Loyal School board reviewed comments and discussions from the district’s Recruit and Retain Committee and their meeting on Wednesday.

A spreadsheet chart was created clearly showing points earned by faculty through course credits and/or Professional Development opportunities. Participating staff members had an administrative initialed copy of their plan put in their mailbox. The committee is studying options for a post-employment benefit for their younger teachers. The science teachers would like to revamp the courses and sequence within their department. Donna Odeen has new ideas for FACE offerings as does Scott Schiller in Business/Tech Ed and Joe Anderson for TV/video production. All these plans are of course dependent on student enrollment but they were welcomed changes approved by the school board. In employment matters, Mike Strick has been hired as the HS Math teacher.

He has 22 years of math teaching experience and 2 master’s degrees. Mike is presently representing Weathershield at a business convention. He will join the staff on January 29th. High School Principal Chris Lindner was officially selected as the District Administrator beginning July 1st. His loyalty, reputation and experience will provide great leadership for the school district. Finally, board members Jen Kadolph, Tom Odeen and Carrie Becker will attend the State school Board convention with Interim Administrator Mark Lacke next week and the district’s SAGE numbers are going down for next year.
