Former Colby High School Secretary Appears in Clark County Court for Embezzlement and Changing Grades

Wednesday, January 15th, 2020 -- 9:31 AM

-A former Colby High School secretary accused of hacking into school accounts to steal and pay back money and change letter grades for a student appeared in Clark County Court on Tuesday.

According to prosecutors, from February of 2018 to January of last year, Lisa Steen used a school credit card to pay for multiple bills and then deposited money into the account to pay some of it back. The amount totaled more than $7,000. Steen is also accused of using another district employee’s login credentials to change a students grade so they were higher in class rank and could receive scholarship money.

Steen is facing multiple charges including theft, computer crime and more. During her initial appearance on Tuesday, a $5,000 signature bond was set and she’s not allowed on the premise of the Colby School District. She’s scheduled to be back in court at the beginning of February.
