Wisconsin Judge Finds State Elections Commission in Contempt of Court

Tuesday, January 14th, 2020 -- 9:52 AM

(WRN) -An Ozaukee County judge has found the state Elections Commission in contempt of court, for failing to comply with his order to remove thousands of people from the state's voter rolls.

Judge Paul Malloy fined commission members Ann Jacobs, Mark Thomsen and Julie Glancey 250 dollars each, daily until up to 209,000 outdated voter registrations are removed from the rolls. The Elections Commission asa whole was fined 50 dollars a day. Elections Commission attorney Karla Keckhaver said the commission would appeal.

The conservative Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty - WILL - filed the contempt motion with Malloy, who'd ordered removal of the names last month. The motion asked Malloy to fine members of the commission up to two thousand dollars for each day they don't comply.
