First Pediatric Flu Death In Wisconsin

Health officials have confirmed the state's first pediatric flu death in Wisconsin this year.According to the Associated Press, health officials said on Friday the child was under age 10 and from southeastern Wisconsin. The child's illness came on quickly, and the child died on the way to the hospital, officials said.
That brings the number of flu deaths to 15 already this year.
There have been deaths in almost every age group. Although the majority have been over 65, there have been fatalities from flu in all age groups.
The number of hospitalizations is three times higher than last year at this time.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has elevated Wisconsin to its high flu category.
Officials are urging anyone who has not had an annual flu shot to get one.
