DATCP Accepting Alice in Dairyland Applications

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -Do you enjoy delivering speeches, meeting people, traveling and working with school children?If so, you may want to consider applying to become Wisconsin's 73rd Alice in Dairyland. The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the ambassador program. Applicants must be a Wisconsin resident and at least 21 years of age before June 1, 2020. Due to the professional demands of the position, applicants must possess education, training, or experience in communications, marketing, agriculture, public relations, or a combination of these. Alice in Dairyland has a strong history in Wisconsin. Today, as Wisconsin's agricultural ambassador, she is a public relations professional whose role ranges from educating people to buy local Wisconsin agriculture products to helping students learn to eat right. The woman selected will travel approximately 40,000 miles as a spokesperson for Wisconsin's food, fiber, and natural resources industry.
She has the duty of presenting hundreds of speeches, media interviews, and educational presentations throughout the year. Knowledge or experience in planning and executing public relations or marketing campaigns is a plus. The preferred candidate will also have the ability to discuss Wisconsin's agricultural products and issues facing agriculture in both rural and urban environments. Public speaking skills are essential to the position. The annual salary is $45,000, plus travel expenses and individual health insurance reimbursement. For more information, call 608-224-5115.
