Lower Gas Prices Begin the New Year

Thursday, January 2nd, 2020 -- 8:59 AM

(WRN) -Good news for drivers as you could be saving at the pump in the New Year.

Expect to have a few more dollars in your pocket over the next few months, because gas prices are expected to be a bit cheaper. Triple A Spokesperson Molly Hart says a number of factors are pushing the average price down.

"And we do forecast the prices to edge cheaper by as much as a dime throughout the Great Lakes and Central Region."

Hart says you can expect to see prices about a dime cheaper than usual over the next few months.

"With the gas prices being cheaper, it's allowing people to travel more, and also put some savings in their pockets."

Hart says that means just a little more pep in the economy.

"It can be great savings and put a little extra cash in your pocket."

She says that people should still expect to see price volatility, though, as supplies shift from refineries.
