Administrators' Reports at Greenwood School Board Meeting

Sunday, December 22nd, 2019 -- 11:27 AM

-The Greenwood School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting on Tuesday.

Elementary Principal Joe Green provided an update on the elementary school Christmas Concert where one of the songs performed was written by 2 third grade students. Students will again be out in the community caroling on December 20th. The planning for Summer School 2020 is underway and information regarding dates and courses will be published in January. Finally, he stated the district is coordinating some teacher professional development for the ARC reading program with Owen-Withee. District Administrator Todd Felhofer reported on some legislative updates. He stated the governor signed a couple of bills that may help to address the shortage of teachers in the state. One creates an alternative pathway for initial educators to gain licensure in Special Education and the other streamlines the process for an educator from out-of-state to convert their valid teaching license to a Wisconsin license.

There is also some early discussion about finding ways for retired teachers to return to teaching without adversely affecting their retirement. This has the potential to be very positive for rural school districts. Also, he stated a Food Service Audit of the district’s food service program was completed in mid-November and it went very well. They are in the process of addressing corrections and recommendations presented in the final report. The district also received a letter of compliance from the state regarding the Civil Rights Compliance audit conducted recently and proofs of the annual open enrollment billboards were shared. Finally, he stated the Middle/High School Winter Concert was outstanding and the students will be enjoying winter/holiday games and activities including the Santa Project on December 20th.
