Granton Village Board Discusses Insurance Proposal

Friday, December 13th, 2019 -- 8:38 AM

-The Granton Village Board discussed an insurance proposal at their meeting on Wednesday.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the village requested and received an insurance proposal from Greater Insurance in Marshfield. Representatives, Mary Luepke and Michael Ausing wanted to give the village the chance to ask any question regarding the policy quote. The property insurance rates were substantially lower however, the auto insurance rate and general liability were almost double. The overall quote was about $2000 less. The board also approved the 2020 election workers. The board also discussed a request from a resident to keep more dogs than the village ordinance allows. The village ordinance allows up to 2 dogs per resident. Tom Phipps is requesting permission to keep 4 dogs at his residence as he has recently inherited a dog with the death of his brother in law. His dogs are all vaccinated and no complaints have ever been made with regards to his dogs running at large or barking. The village did approve it, but this is a temporary approval and additional dogs cannot be added as dogs pass away.

Finally, the village heard an update on the dump truck. Their dump truck is a 1992 has 29,000 miles on it. The plow blade is in bad shape and was welded again this month. One wing is bent and needs to be replaced. Some welding repairs were completed. The dump truck shifter was repaired but shifting is still difficult. Josh researched and received quotes for trucks and equipment packages. The board will put together specs and request a formal bid from Gross and V & H.
