Decision on One-Way Street in Marshfield on Hold for Now

Wednesday, November 20th, 2019 -- 10:34 AM

(Hub City Times) -A decision on whether a temporary one-way street in Marshfield’s downtown should become permanent will have to wait.

This fall, a temporary one-way traffic on East Second Street was tested for safety and convenience, which would bring additional parking in front of the city’s community and senior center. But at the Nov. 18 Board of Public Works meeting, Chairman Tom Buttke said city engineering staff needs to gather more information on other parking options before a final decision is made. Some of the options being considered for the street include two-way traffic with parallel parking on both sides of the street, one-way traffic with angled parking on one side of the street, or one-way traffic with angled and parallel parking on opposite sides of the street.

That temporary test of one-way traffic on East Second Street started in mid-September, and ended Nov. 1. Further action on the matter is expected at the board’s Dec. 9 meeting.
