Owen-Withee School Board Hears Administrators' Reports

-The Owen-Withee School Board heard the Administrators' Reports at their meeting last week.

Elementary Principal Lance Batchelor reported on the “Socks for Soldiers” event that took place. 167 pairs of socks were collected and donated to our troops. The elementary also raised $225.25 for Hurricane Dorian relief efforts. Kudos to the Action Club! The annual food drive will take place from November 1st through 22nd. The goal this year is 1,200 food items. American Education week will be held November 18-22 with several events happening throughout the week. Middle/High School Dean of Student Julie Van Ark gave kudos and thanked the staff and students who put on the Veteran’s Day assembly. Mr. Engel and students attended the FFA 212- 360 conference in Wisconsin Dells. Congratulations to the One-Act Play on making it to state, which will be held Nov. 21st-23rd in Milwaukee.

Finally, District Administrator Bob Houts informed the Board of the Hepatitis B shots that were given. Nov. 20 at 7:30 AM will be the district sponsored breakfast to celebrate Nation Education Week. He also discussed the health issues being experienced by Marlene Pietrzen and the impact on busing. The board wishes Marlene a speedy recovery. During the public input portion of the meeting, a couple of community members expressed concerns over the direction of the football ` program and the options available to the District.
