Public Works Report at Neillsville City Council Meeting

Friday, November 15th, 2019 -- 1:02 PM

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Public Works Report at their meeting on Tuesday.

The usual amount of work was done in the city including cemetery and parks maintenance, burials, equipment maintenance, snow removal, trimming and pruning trees, maintaining street lighting, filling pot holes, hauling brush and compost, street sweeping, some mowing and more. The park bathrooms have been winterized and the department removed the fall decorations and are working on placing the Christmas decorations. The department also finished the decorative light poles in Schuster Park and they cleaned up the compost site and burned the brush pile. The department also thanked residents for taking their old flowers to the compost site, but they ask you remove any plastic containers they may be in, especially from the old mums. Leaf pickup is ongoing and they ask residents again not to put branches, sticks, garden waster or animal waste in their leaves as it plugs the machine up.

They Sewer Department is doing some lift station maintenance, had a contractor haul sludge and they had a sewer back up due to some grease in the system. They also winterized the fire hydrants, prepared the equipment for snow and ice removal and did a DNR required inspection. It was also mentioned that the DNR has provided a dumpster by the old Cenex for hunters to dispose of their deer carcasses. Finally, it was stated that they had a signal light pole broken by Kwik Trip again. It happened 3 times, all recently. The city is looking into options to correct the issue. Also during the Public Works portion of the meeting, the approved rescheduling the December 24th meeting to Monday the 23rd like they did with the Common Council meeting.
