Granton School Board Approves Options for Inclement Weather Days

-The Granton School Board approved options for inclement weather for this school year at their meeting on Monday.The board approved the Inclement Weather Day options for the 2019-20 school year. They also approved the First Reading of “Board Policies” Policy Code 2G, they approved the contract for Omar Young as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach, they approved the contract for Alaina Rojas as JV Girls’ Basketball Coach and they approved the contract for Andrea Wood as a childcare worker. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Amanda Kraus reported on Staff Professional Development. This past week the Granton School District staff were able to view and partake in a presentation from CESA and various other experts on hearing/vision support for students.
This was a great experience for staff to get insight on the students needs while also letting them brainstorm ways to aide them in the everyday classroom. She also reported on Academic Updates. The staff are going to a training on the school academic report card and using this data to set system wide goals. They have seen growth in the academic motivation of their students and have had a 7% decrease from Midterm grades to Term 1 with regard to academic eligibility. Finally, she reported that they’re getting quotes for a Conference Room Update.
