New Teacher and More at Neillsville School Board Meeting

-The Neillsville School Board met a new teacher to begin their meeting on Monday.

The board met the new 7th & 8th grade ELA teacher Chelsea Opelt. The board also approved the college course applications for second semester as presented and approved the out-of-state field trip for chorus to Chanhassen Dinner Theater on November 2nd. The board also approved the out-of-state field trip for chorus to the Dorian Festival on January 12th-14th, approved a bid of $56,418 from Streich Equipment Co. for kitchen equipment upgrades and the board received an update on current and future construction projects. Finally, the board approved a Fund 10 tax levy of $3,805,840 and a Fund 80 tax levy of $75,000 for a total levy of $3,880,840 for the 2019-2020 school year.

In employment matters, the board approved the resignations of Theresa Lezza from her administrative secretary position, Jenna Pavlac from her teaching assistant position and Toni Erickson from her teaching assistant position. The board approved the hirings of Tina Pokallus for a teaching assistant position and Jennifer Lindner for a middle school girls’ basketball coaching position. Finally, the board approved the initial adoption of Policy EFF with modifications as presented.
