She was the co-chair of the “Small Savings Builds Big Dreams” team that received the First Place National Award and First Place Region NEAFCS Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award at the conference held September 30th-October 3rd in Hershey, Pennsylvania. In receiving the award, Vance was recognized for her participation in the “Small Savings Build Big Dreams” work group that created outreach materials for parents, grandparents, and community members interested in learning more about promoting and saving for children’s higher education. A public website, https://fyi.uwex.edu/collegesavings, connects learners to videos, self-study materials, and trusted resources. The NEAFCS Dean Don Felker Financial Management Award recognizes Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Educators who have developed financial management programs, which help individuals and families make decisions and plans for their present and future needs.

The award is named in memory of Dean Don Felker, Dean of the School of Consumer and Family Sciences, Purdue University, for his outstanding contributions to NEAFCS. Purdue University, the Indiana NEAFCS affiliate, and the NEAFCS awards fund sponsors the award. Nancy Vance‘s commitment to meeting the needs of individuals, families and communities is exemplary.
