Granton School Board Approves Several Items

-The Granton School Board approved an out of state field trip at their meeting on Monday.

The board approved the out of state field trip for the choir students to the Chanhassen Dinner Theater and Schubert Music Museum. The board also approved the Band Instrument Rental Fees for the 2019-20 school year, approved the Early College Credit & Start College Now Applications, approved the CESA Package Contract for the 2019-20 school year, approved the First Reading of “Board Policies” Policy Code 2G, approved the resignation of Luke Schier as JV Boys’ Basketball Coach and approved the resignation of Jessica Wilson as a childcare worker. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Principal Amanda Kraus reported on Academic Eligibility. She stated that bi-weekly grade checks have shown to be motivating and communication between teachers and students is at an all-time high. She said less students are staying on the D&F list and the checks are seeming to motivate students to improve their grades. They are hoping that this translates to Mid-term and Term Grading Periods.

She also discussed the ACP Career Presentations: This year, they have kicked off their ACP Curricula with presentations from professionals in various fields. The students have been exposed to Mid-State program offerings and the health field so far this year. Coming up before the conclusion of their semester are Energy related fields and Hospitality/Tourism. She also presented the New Granton Bulldog Logo, presented potential new door/window coverings on the fieldhouse entrance doors and discussed possible new Conference Room furniture upgrades. They are cleaning up various storage areas throughout the Granton Area School District and would like to have a Garage Sale with the proceeds going to facility purchases. Finally, Superintendent Scott Woodington updated the board the on the preliminary 2019-20 budget and tax levy.
