Local Veterans on Never Forgotten Honor Flight

(Hub City Times) -The Never Forgotten Honor Flight will fly four Korea and 107 Vietnam War era veterans from central and northern Wisconsin to Washington, D.C. to see the memorials that honor their service on Oct. 21.

Local veterans on the flight include: Keith Alsleben, Arpin; Fred Baehr, Withee; Kenneth Behounek, Unity; Darrell Berg, Plover; James Cline, Stevens Point; John Dekarske, Wisconsin Rapids; Eric Eckland, Stevens Point; John Eichhorn, Wisconsin Rapids; Perry Engel, Plover; James Gignac, Wisconsin Rapids; Maurice Hager, Stratford; Dennis Henke, Withee; Larry Herington, Owen; Gerald Jensen, Pittsville; Michael Lehner, Wisconsin Rapids; Keith McDowell, Wisconsin Rapids; Harry McMeeken, Stratford; Ray McSherry, Wisconsin Rapids; Jerry Oertel, Wisconsin Rapids; Ronald Parker, Jr., Arpin; Michael Raab, Marshfield; Chester Ramage, Jr., Stevens Point; Leo Rogoski, Wisconsin Rapids; Glen Sebold, Milladore; Louis Simonds, Plover; Terrence Stanislawski, Stevens Point; Victor Stini, Marshfield; Robert Taylor, Stevens Point; Ricky Thoma, Neillsville; Dale Tracy, Wisconsin Rapids; and John Weis, Auburndale.

Fifty-eight guardians will accompany the vets on the one-day round trip that departs Central Wisconsin Airport at 6:30 a.m. and is scheduled to return at approximately 10 p.m. The public is invited to the Central Wisconsin Airport to welcome the veterans home Monday night. This is the organization’s 38th flight since the first Never Forgotten Honor Flight took place April 27, 2010. Any veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War eras are encouraged to submit an application.
