Governor Evers Talks Special Election

Wednesday, September 25th, 2019 -- 10:36 AM

(WRN) -A special election is coming for the 7th Congressional District, and it's sooner, rather than later.

When asked why he was holding a special election in January rather than waiting for the presidential election next year, Governor Tony Evers says the people of the Seventh need representation.

"From impeachment to making sure that we have a good trade deal for our farmers. So it has to do with actually people being represented in a timely fashion."

Evers was speaking at a luncheon hosted by Wis Politics. There had been some dispute over whether or not new elections would be too expensive for northwoods clerks offices, but Evers says the need to have a Congressman is more important.
