Neillsville School Board Meets New Staff

-The Neillsville School Board had a relatively quiet night at their meeting on Monday.

The board was introduced to the new staff members and the reviewed the summer cleaning and construction schedules, as well as a list of future projects. The board also approved the release of funds for the Class of 2019 in the amount of $610.42 and approved the English curriculum updates as presented. In employment matters, the board approved the resignation of Tim Voigt from his middle school girls’ basketball coaching position, Kate Mueller from her assistant volleyball coaching position, Jessica Brown from her assistant volleyball coaching position and Kendie Pfeiffer from her assistant volleyball coaching position. The board approved the hiring of Cody Roman for a teaching assistant position, Kendie Pfeiffer for a homecoming advisory position, Chelsea Opelt for an assistant volleyball coaching position and Monika Luebke for an assistant volleyball coaching position. The board also heard the Administrators’ Reports. Elementary Principal Marcy Kunze reported on new teaching staff, attendance, Warrior of the Week, picture day on September 26th, parent teacher conferences October 17th-18th, field trips and elementary student council.

Middle School Principal Kory Poeschel reported on attendance, building improvements, middle school bathrooms, climate/culture of middle school, Inspired Learning Grant and picture day. High School Principal Craig Anderson reported on attendance, open campus and lunch update, building and grounds and participation in a school culture survey. Finally, District Administrator John Gaier reported on the WASB Region 5 meeting, the Speich scholarship amount, an article regarding legislation based on the blue ribbon commission recommendations, an article on Colorado College eliminating SAT scores from admission applications, an article about fake video and audio relative to the 2020 election, an article on grading the states and schools, and an article about the biggest challenge facing high school sports today.
