Marshfield Man Enters Plea for Throwing Puppies in the Garbage

-A Marshfield man charged for discarding puppies in a garbage can entered a plea in Wood County Court on Friday.At the end of February, Marshfield Police were dispatched to complaint of the sound of kittens coming from a garbage can in the 800 block of E. 4th St. Upon arrival, it was learned that the sound was coming from 8 newborn puppies which had been discarded in a garbage bag and trash can at 813 E. 4th St. The bag was removed and the puppies were transported to the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter. Contact was made at the residence and, subsequently, Robert Wild was arrested and transported to the police department. During his court appearance on Friday, Wild was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, intentionally abandoning animals. Another charge was dismissed and read in.
Wild was sentenced to 30 days in jail and 1 year of probation. He may also have to pay the Marshfield Area Pet Shelter $5,018.95 for the care of the puppies. Wild may also not be allowed to have any pets for 5 years, but the judge needs to review that state statute and a decision will be made next Friday. The puppies were all adopted earlier this year and were even featured on Inside Edition.
