Owen City Council Hears Several Reports

-The Owen City Council heard several reports at their meeting on Tuesday of last week.The council heard and approved the Treasurer’s Report. During the Finance Committee Report, it was stated they held a good preliminary meeting regarding employee compensation. An additional meeting will be held in August at a date to be determined with a representative from the insurance company in attendance. During the Personnel Committee Report, it was stated the applications for both the Department of Public Works and the Wastewater Treatment Plant operator positions were scrutinized at the meeting resulting in three interviews scheduled this week to fill the two vacant positions.
Finally, the council heard the OW-Police Commission Report. It was stated they hired Sgt Mark Ramberg for approximately 24 hours a month to help with ordinance work. The commission also approved the purchase of a solar charger for the movable speed sign. This charger will eliminate the sign having to be constantly bought in for recharging. The Police budget was presented to the Commission as well.
