Owen-Withee School Board Approves District's Meal Prices

-The Owen-Withee School Board approved the district’s new meal prices at their meeting on Monday.

To comply with USDA requirements, the district had to raise lunch prices by 10 cents. Proposed prices for lunch were $2.40 for kindergarten, $2.60 for students in grades 1st-6th and $2.70 for student in grades 7-12. The adult/visitor price will be $3.70. The breakfast price will remain at $1.50. The board also discussed employment matters. The board approved the resignation of Julie Plautz as a kindergarten teacher. Julie has resigned to take a 2nd grade position in Greenwood. The board thanked Julie for her 18 years of service to the students, school and community. The board unanimously approved the hire of Eric Mann. Eric will be teaching 4th grade in the 2019-20 school year. The board approved the resignation of Laura Koehler as the High School Special Ed Teacher. Laura has accepted a teaching position in the Chippewa Falls School District. The board thanks Laura for her years of service to the district, students and community.

The board approved the hire of Cynthia Schwab as an Elementary Special Ed Teacher. Cynthia comes to the district from Chippewa Falls and has a strong background working with special needs students. The board approved the hire of Matthew Nordgren as the High School Special Education Teacher. Matthew comes to the district from the Hudson School District where he taught special needs students in the Hudson High School. Matthew comes from the Medford area. Finally, District Administrator Bob Houts tabled his discussion of next year’s budget until the August meeting. The Governor signed the budget a week ago with several changes to the funding for schools. There are several questions regarding how those changes will impact the district’s budget. A clearer picture will be available in August.
