Horse Powered Weekend in Marshfield

Thursday, July 11th, 2019 -- 7:17 AM

(WDLB) -Horse power in several different forms will be featured this weekend at Marshfield Fairgrounds Park.

Dale Christiansen, Executive Director of the Central Wisconsin State Fair in Marshfield, says a semi show and parade will join the Central Wisconsin State Fair Draft Horse show July 12-14, for a “Horse Powered Weekend”. Food vendors will be on the grounds for all events, with free entry for both the working show truck and the draft horse hitch and halter classes. This is the second year for the draft horse event and the first year for the semi show, which Christiansen says includes a parade through Marshfield on Saturday evening starting at 8:30 p.m.

Trucks will start arriving Friday morning and will continue to come through Saturday morning. Along with a minimal entry fee the drivers are also being asked to bring either a nonperishable food item or a new toy that will be donated to those in need in the Marshfield area. As for the truck parade, the souped-up semis will start and end at the Fairgrounds, and utilize Peach Avenue, Fourth Street, Washington Avenue and 29th Street for the Saturday Night Lights Parade. As for the draft horse show, halter classes perform on Friday, and hitch classes perform on Saturday and Sunday. Shows start at noon each day.

Gates open at 5:00 p.m. Friday for the Parish Pull, and the pulling starts at 7:00 p.m. Admission is eight-dollars for those 18-and-older, five-dollars for kids ages five-to-fifteen and those four and under get in for free. For more information on the events, visit centralwisconsinstatefair.com.
