Neillsville City Council Meeting

The Neillsville City Council heard the various committee reports at their recent meeting.


Council Member Dave Harnisch reported on the November 12th meeting of the Beautification  Committee regarding discussion on the flower pot tree decorating contest, discussion on the continuing development of Prock Park and concurred to have a truck in the Town Square and the deer and sleigh in Prock Park.  

Council Member Harnisch also reported on the November 18th meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission regarding a correction of the October 21stminutes to  reflect that the Jeff Kluckhohn Historic Preservation Grant should be $2,000 and not  $2,500 as stated, discussion on and approval of a Historic Preservation Grant not to exceed $891 to The Brickyard Bar & Grill, LLC, Sharon Christopherson, owner, 203 W.  Seventh Street, discussion on funds and discussion on updating the current Historic Preservation Grant Application Form and Policy.  

They also approved an expense report of $89.88, reported on requesting Listeman Foundation funds, discussion on the updated draft for a new Historic Preservation brochure – “Information for Historic Property Owners”, discussion on the 2020 Action Plan and discussion on holding Commission meetings by video conference and/or teleconferencing platform.

Council Member Dan Clough stated the video conferencing/teleconference platform was not  placed on the agenda, because City Attorney Wachsmuth has already addressed the issue in her communication with guidance from the Wisconsin Department of Justice Advisory issued March 16th.  

Finally, Council Member Julie Counsell reported on the November 19th meeting of the Library Board regarding the Librarians’ reports, discussion on and approved a plan if both Librarians’ test positive for COVID which includes closing the Library for two weeks, with limited services provided by the Library Assistants and allowing options for Librarians’ to work from home on webinars, trainings and crafts, tabled the Library Personnel Committee one year  evaluation of the new Director, payment of bills and update on donation and carryover funds.
