Neillsville City Council Approves Bid on Parcel of Property

Friday, May 31st, 2019 -- 10:51 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved a bid for a parcel of property at their meeting on Tuesday.

The council approved a $500 bid from Melvin Construction for the property at 303 W. Fifteenth Street. The city tore down the home at that location because of lead issues. The stipulation with the purchase is that they must put up a residential property within 5 years. The council also approved the Clark County Jail Museum to use the Gazebo for history talks on June 18th and 25th and July 9th and 16th. Finally, the council approved the recycling grant from the Wisconsin DNR. The city will receive $9,947.27 and that was a slight increase over last year. The council also heard the various committee reports from the past couple weeks. They heard the Police and Fire Commission Report from their meeting on May 21st.

The council also heard the Economic Development Commission Report from their meeting on May 15th. The commission discussed housing and new incentives to encourage new residential housing in the community. They reviewed a few ideas, but decided they wanted more, so they will be meeting with a representative from Marshfield to discuss things they have implemented. Finally, the council heard the Heritage Days Committee Report from their meeting on May 16th. They discussed financials, Miss Neillsville, planning events, volunteers for children’s games, food vendors set up and layout, golf outing, parade, poster and pottery.
