Black River Falls 5th Grader Selected as Winner of 2019 Karner Blue 5K-10K-Half Marathon T-Shirt Design Contest

-Jernie Jones, a fifth-grade student at Red Creek Elementary, has been selected as the winner of the 2019 Karner Blue 5K-10K-Half Marathon T-Shirt Design Contest.Jernie drew a picture of a Karner Blue butterfly. Jernie’s favorite classes at school are art, physical education, music, social studies and science. Outside of school she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hanging out at home and helping her Grandma in the garden. Jackson County students ages 8 through 10 were encouraged to participate in the annual contest. “There were many great entries this year, as always,” said Amanda Gunn, Black River Area Chamber of Commerce executive director. “We appreciate the participation from the students and the assistance of the teachers.”
Jernie will receive a free t-shirt featuring her design along with $20 in Chamber Bucks. The 15th annual Karner Blue races will be Saturday, July 20. Individual and corporate team registration is underway and race sponsorships are still available.
