Neillsville School Board Begins Meeting by Selecting New Member

-The Neillsville School Board began their meeting on Monday by selecting a new member of the board.

The board interviewed candidates for the vacant board position, previously held by Rick Opelt. A ballot vote was taken and the results were 4 votes for Jake Brunette and 0 votes for Matt Jorgenson. The board also approved several more bids for their new entry project. The board approved a flooring bid from Russell’s of Neillsville for an amount not to exceed $43,995.63 and they approved a painting bid from Pine Valley Painting for an amount not to exceed $4,900. The board also approved a pool repair bid from Staley Plumbing for an amount not to exceed $20,411 and approved a sound shell bid from Stage Right for an amount not to exceed $10,300. The board also approved a water cooler bid from Mark’s Plumbing Supply for an amount not to exceed $4,205.10.

They also approved the purchasing of Chromebooks and Chromebook software licenses for a total of $159,565. The board also approved the out-of-state field trip for the FFA to Moline, IL, in July of 2019 and the out-of-state field trip for the FFA to Indianapolis, IN, in October 2019. Finally, the board approved the grades 6-8 science textbooks as presented, approved the request for early graduation, approved the curriculum updates as presented and approve the donation of a sign for the football field.
