Administrators' Reports at Granton School Board Meeting

Monday, May 20th, 2019 -- 8:42 AM

-The Granton School Board heard the Administrators’ Reports at their meeting last week.

Principal Amanda Kraus stated that the district received a Title I School of Recognition Award. The high school earned the award entitled Beating-the-Odds by the state. On May 20th two representatives will be going to Madison to accept this award on behalf of Granton. Being a Beating-the-Odds School means they are in the top 25% of high poverty schools in the state and have above average achievement in reading and math compared to similar sized districts. She also stated they just had their Term 3 Honors/Perfect Attendance Breakfast. The district honored more students this term than they have in the past 4 years and they also had more students receive 4.0 status than in the past, about 5-to-1.

She also provided some updates on school improvements. Students around the building have been adding color to the district. This is a welcomed addition to the school and has showcased the students’ talent around the building. Some of the updates include bathroom door positive paintings, ceiling tiles with flags, historical landmarks and literature, playground blacktop re-painting, flower bed upkeeps and paw prints and a mural, showcasing the history surrounding Granton.
