Owen City Council Hears Community Development Authority's Report

-The Owen City Council heard the Community Development Authority’s Report at their meeting last week.Tim Swiggum reported the Growin’ Owen/America in Blooms Grant money came through and Owen will be receiving $20,000. He also reported that Community Service Day for students is May 15th and the Tree City Arbor Day Ceremony will be May 16th. A DNR Forestry representative will speak on the importance of trees and also help the students with the planting of the trees. Tim is looking for volunteers to help water flowers and trees this upcoming spring and summer. He also said the Car Show is being planned and the Street Dance is the 20th of July with America in Bloom judges coming the 23rd of July.
He also said Heartland financing is in progress and the merger of Heartland and River Country Co-ops won’t affect any of the business, but the headquarters will now be in Chippewa Falls, not Owen. This will have no financial bearing on our community. He’s also Working with Plains Gas Quality Roasting and Quality Roasting on their rail spur and the LWMI Conference in Wisconsin Dells was very informative. Finally, he gave updates on the current state of the State Budget.
