Owen-Withee School Board Elects Officers

Saturday, May 18th, 2019 -- 7:07 AM

-The Owen-Withee School Board elected their officers at their meeting on Monday.

Each May, after the April election, the board reorganizes with officer elections. Julie Wendler was elected as President, Rick Eloranta as Vice-President, Angela Greschner as Clerk and Kim Amacher as Treasurer. Rick Eloranta was elected as the CESA Annual Meeting Representative and the board still needs to designate a WASB Delegate. And for the 2019-20 school year, President Julie Wendler assigned all members to the same committee assignments they had in 2018-19. The board also approved, on a unanimous voice vote, leaving the length of the school day as it is as Owen-Withee ends the 18-19 school year. Ten minutes had been added to the day in February of 2019 to make up snow day time.

The added time in 19-20 will be used to help prevent the recreation of the school calendar due to missed school time like districts experienced this year. Finally, the board is still considering offering a Cash in Lieu of Insurance option to staff members who elect to take health insurance from a spouse or other source. District Administrator Bob Houts will continue to discuss with staff members to see if the idea is feasible. A meeting for Thursday morning was scheduled to talk with potential candidates.
