Neillsville City Council Approves Summer Help for Public Works Department

Wednesday, May 15th, 2019 -- 9:11 AM

-The Neillsville City Council approved some summer help for the Public Works Department at their meeting on Tuesday.

During a brief Personnel Committee Meeting held before the Common Council Meeting, the committee approved a list of four candidates to be put in a “pool” for the Public Works Department to draw on when they need help with different items this summer. The candidates would work in different areas of the department throughout the summer. The item was then approved by the Common Council during the regular meeting. The council also approved the resignation of Rick Opelt from the Airport Commission and Beverly Rain from the Beautification Committee. They then approved Bob Petkovsek to the Airport Commission and approved Kathy Brueger, Barb Petkovsek and Linda Hammond to the Beautification Committee.

The council also approved allowing the Neillsville Area Players to use a couple parking spaces in Sniteman Town Square for a fundraiser on May 31st and closing some city streets and the lower parking lot for the Motorhead Mafia’s Car Show on July 20th. Finally, the council approved allowing the city attorney to begin the razing process for a home at 305 E. Fifth Street near the Old Jail Museum. The property has lead paint issues and it would cost more to fix everything than what it’s worth. The city would not take ownership of the property, they would simply tear it down and pass the cost along to the owner of the property.
