Successful Paws for Brittany Fun Run and Dog Walk Held on Saturday

Tuesday, May 14th, 2019 -- 8:47 AM

-The annual Paws for Brittany fun run and dog walk in memory of animal lover Brittany Zimmermann took place on Saturday.

In total, 215 people attended the event, raising $11,500 for Marshfield Area Pet Shelter or MAPS as it is affectionately known as. Funds raised benefit day-to-day operations at MAPS. New this year was a bake sale, raffle baskets, and a 50/50 raffle. Held in Wildwood Park on a beautiful sunny morning, the event began with a special tribute to one of the event’s founders, Duane Kulke, who unexpectedly passed away earlier this year. Brittany’s parents, Jean and Kevin Zimmermann also spoke, thanking those who attended and continue to support their family. Also in attendance was Madison Police Chief Mike Koval, who spoke about the case, which remains unsolved.

Two of MAPS’ famous “dumpster” puppies, Bleu & Muenster, were also introduced at the event, which they were attending with their new adoptive families. After Pastor Daryn Bahn of Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield officiated a blessing and prayer, Mike Warren from WDLB/WOSQ sent the runners and walkers on their way for a walk around the park in memory of Brittany.
