A Brand New Slogan for Marshfield: "Marshfield Made New"

Friday, May 10th, 2019 -- 9:03 AM

(WDLB) -"Marshfield Made New". That's the brand new slogan for what used to be the Marshfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, which is rebranding itself as Visit Marshfield.

All that was unveiled last night during the agency's annual tourism banquet held at the Oven Above the Pub in downtown Marshfield. Director Matt McClean said the agency is rolling out a new look, a new slogan and a new name, all while embracing the city's past. Visit Marshfield is getting help from the state in launching its new name and slogan. Jeff Anderson from the state Tourism Department awarded McClean with a Joint Effort Marketing, or "Jem", grant for 35-thousand dollars. It was a "JEM" grant that McClean used on a 2017 research project that lead to the rebranding efforts unveiled last night.

The rebranding efforts are expected to attract more than 16-thousand visitors, generating an estimated two-million dollars in visitor spending in the area. And those expectations are coming off the biggest tourism year the Marshfield area has ever seen. McClean said business sales in Wood County last year totaled 190-million dollars, supporting more than 22-hundred jobs.

McClean said it was what he called "The Big Three" that contributed to most of the tourism success in Marshfield last year. The Fur Takers of America held their 50th anniversary convention in Marshfield in June of last year, attracting people from all 50 states. In July, the state brought Farm Technology Days to the Sternweis and Heiman farms just outside Marshfield, attracting more that 43-thousand people. In August of last year, Marshfield hosted the 59th annual Wisconsin Square and Round Dance Convention, featuring over 600 dancers and families from all over the Badger State. Marshfield hosted numerous other events as well, and launched the city's new Wenzel Family Plaza in July.
