(WRN) -The D N R is hosting a new pilot program to allow for same day campsite rentals.The D N R is hosting a new pilot program to allow for same day campsite rentals. State parks business section chief Chris Pedretti says the program is there for people who look outside and think, hey, it's a nice weekend to get out to the park.
"This is just another way for people to see what's available without necessarily having to plan so far in advance."
Pedretti says you can either find and make reservations online or directly from special telephones located at the state park properties.
"You know you can check before you ever leave your house if there's camping available and have the peace of mind that you have a spot waiting for you at the property."
Pedretti says they're only hosting the program at 15 locations right now, but if it goes well it might get rolled out statewide.
"We've got a mix of large and medium size and smaller properties to see how this works."
The same day rentals are available at a select number of parks at the moment. You can find those parks and make a reservation online at Wisconsin dot Going to Camp dot com.
