Wisconsin Department of Justice's Sex Offense Numbers for Clark County

Monday, May 6th, 2019 -- 11:47 AM

-Attorney General Josh Kaul announced that the 2018 data on offenses, arrests, and related data reported by law enforcement agencies across the state is now available.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice publishes interactive data dashboards containing information collected through the Uniform Crime Reporting Program, using definitions of offenses and arrests as defined by the FBI. These dashboards include offenses by agency, arrests by agency, statewide arrestee demographics, and offense and arrest trends by agency over time. Additional incident-level information regarding sex offenses is also included in an interactive sex offense dashboard. Data from 2018 was added to the dashboards at the end of April, and now includes information from 2014-2018. Rates are calculated per agency and per county by taking the sum of offenses and dividing by the agency/county population, then multiplying by 100,000. The populations that were used to calculate rates are displayed on the rate table.

For Clark County, 58.60 sex offenses were reported for 2018. That number has fluctuated from the low 30s to the mid-40s over the past five years, with a low of 30.99 in 2015. 2018 has the highest number of reports for Clark County. In 2018, our neighboring counties experienced 109.65 offenses in Chippewa County, 157.90 in Eau Claire, 119.24 in Wood, 97.01 in Marathon and 49.30 in Taylor. The sexual offenses include rape, sodomy/oral sex, sexual assault with an object, fondling, incest and statutory rape.
