DETAILS OF DANIELSON SETTLEMENT RELEASED

Tuesday, December 14th, 2004 -- 7:43 PM

The Granton School District has released the details of a settlement reached with a disgruntled former superintendent.

Current superintendent Jerry Nelson says the school board and the district?s insurance company accepted a $20,000-settlement offer from former superintendent Don Danielson that will have neither side taking fault for his firing back in 2001. Danielson ? claiming he was wrongly fired - originally sought $1.5-million in damages from the district. He would later drop that request to $300,000 and then to $75,000 before seeking only $20,000. Under the settlement, the district?s insurance company will pay $12,000, while the district will pay for $8,000. Nelson speculates the money will be used to cover Danielson?s legal bills.
