Owen-Withee Police Commission Report and More at Owen City Council Meeting

-The Owen City Council heard a report from the Owen-Withee Police Commission at their meeting last week.The Commission met the new part-time officers. Also, the Police Discipline Committee was named: Cindy Knight and Kevin Moliter as Owen representatives and Chris Lulloff and Dan Hipikka representing Withee. The council also approved any member or city employee interested in attending the L.W.M 101 Local Government Workshop to do so. They just need to notify the clerk. They also approved any council member or city employee interested in attending the Clark County Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Meeting on May 8th to do so. Again, they just need to notify the clerk. Finally, the council heard the Community Development Authority’s Report. Tim Swiggum reported the Clark Co Economic Development Flier has been updated. This flier, along with other city information, will be on display at the Community Booth at the Annual CCEDC meeting in Greenwood on May 8th.
Tim also submitted an AARP Community Challenge grant which, if granted, would be used towards the purchase of a trackless train which different community organizations have shown interest. They will know by June if the $5,000 grant will be awarded. The Farmers Market not looking too good due to lack of vendors, even though the price is right, free. Growin Owen Committee met and they’re making plans for the Community Service Day on May 15. One of the projects the kids will be working on is establishing a butterfly garden by the library. Also, they will be cleaning up around the park and the Veterans Memorial.
