Granton Village Board Discusses Auditor Contract

Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 -- 11:59 AM

-The Granton Village Board discussed the Auditor Contract at their meeting last week.

According to the unofficial minutes from the meeting, the audit proposal for the next three years is as follows 2019-$17,580, 2020-$18,370, 2021-$19,200. Before signing the new contract, the village checked with the League of Municipalities and the surrounding areas. Spencer, who also uses Hawkins Ash, paid $16,000 but they do no not file a PSC or C reports. Neillsville pays $22,000 with Clifton Larson, Black River Falls paid $40,000 in 2017, $46,000 in 2018 with Baker Tilly but that includes audits of several projects. There were 2 quotes received that offered a slightly lower rate but they were not local. The board approved the contract with Hawkins Ash. The board also heard a website update. The quote was confirmed and the building of the site will begin in the next couple weeks.

Also, several complaints have been made about the condition of the village sidewalks. Upkeep of both the business and residential sidewalks are the responsibility of the owners. The village will look into the TID money and research the possibility of sharing costs with residents. It was pointed out the both Maple Works and a resident replaced their business sidewalks last year at their expense and to offer assistance programs now may not be looked upon favorably. This subject will be looked at again next month. The clerk also read through the audit comments and suggestions. The board discusses several notations. Finally, the board president noted the Emergency Management Plan needs to be updated.
