-The Clark County Board of Supervisors approved a few appointments to begin their meeting on Tuesday.

The board had 25 members present and 4 absent. The board approved the reappointment of Gary Leichtman to the Veterans Service Commission. They also approved the reappointment of Frieda Rollins, Arlene Kodl and Scott Jalling to the Community Department Board. Finally, they approved the appointment of Jim Smagacz to the Safety and Security Committee. The board also approved a resolution regarding a lease agreement with Four Star Dairy. The agreement is for 3 acres of land out of a piece the county owns near Loyal. The lease is for 2 years for $300 per year for agricultural purposes. The board also approved the disallowance of a claim by a Ryan Steinhoff. Steinhoff was arrested after the execution of a search warrant for drugs in Taylor County.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department was called to assist with that warrant. Steinhoff claimed that the Clark County Officer hit him with a gun and was shoved to the ground causing injury to his ear and shoulder. Steinhoff is asking for $1 million in damages for use of force causing injury, possible permanent injury, pain, suffering and punitive damages. The county’s Corporation Counsel and the Clark County Sheriff reviewed the claim and body camera footage and recommended the county disallow the claim.
