Neillsville School Board Approves Items for Next School Year

Tuesday, April 16th, 2019 -- 10:50 AM

-The Neillsville School Board approved a few items in preparation for the next school year at their meeting on Monday.

The board approved the transportation contract with Granton with no increase for the 2019-20 school year. Granton pays Neillsville $36.25 per hour for the actual hours performed and they pay $.45 per mile for miles traveled by each employee when traveling between Neillsville and Granton or vise-versa. The board also approved the purchase of a new school bus. The board received two bids, one from Mid-State Truck and the other from Wisconsin Bus Sales. Mid-State offered a price of $83,749 with a $1,100 trade in for an old bus with the final bid coming to $82,649. Wisconsin Bus Sales offered a price of $84,820 with a $1,250 trades in for an old bus with the final bid coming to $83,570. The district’s Transportation Director recommend Mid-State due to the lower bid, satisfaction with other buses purchased from them and their service department taking care of issues in a timely manner.

The student insurance and contract for health services were not ready for Monday’s meeting, so they will be addressed at the next meeting. Finally, the board approved several donations. They approved a donation of cheese sticks from Nasonville Dairy, cheddar cheese from Lynn Dairy, cases of water from Drescher BP, cases of water from the Holiday Station and ice and bananas from Kwik Trip. All of those items were for the choir trip to Florida. They also approved a donation of $2,047 from the American Legion Baseball account to the baseball team, new track plaques from JBC Screen Printing, a new sign for the press box at the baseball field from JBC and a $3,369 donation from the Booster Club for new basketball backboards.
