Production of Wisconsin's Field and Miscellanous Crops Valued at $3.66 Billion in 2018

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The production of Wisconsin's field and miscellaneous crops was valued at $3.66 billion in 2018.That is a seven-percent increase from the previous year, despite the fact that production of most crops also rose from the previous growing season. According to the USDA's latest Crop Values summary, the value of corn for grain production in the Badger State totaled $1.90 billion, up 12 percent from the previous year. Wisconsin's corn price averaged $3.50 per bushel, an increase of 20-cents from the last marketing year.
However, the value of soybean production fell six percent compared to 2017 at $910 million. The average price decreased about 74-cents from the year prior at $8.60 per bushel. The value of potatoes, oats, barley, wheat, winter wheat, other hay and all forage were all higher in 2018, while alfalfa hay values were lower for the year.
