-A Neillsville man facing child abuse charges, after an infant was hospitalized with serious injuries, was sentenced in Clark County Court on Tuesday.Back in January of 2018, a woman brought her baby into the hospital. The baby had bruises on her body and one of her eyes wasn’t working properly. Authorities questioned Alden Martin Jr. about the injuries. He stated that the baby’s head had pitched forward and slammed into his collarbone while he was holding her. He also said she had fallen off a bed. However, doctors said that wouldn't explain the injuries and another child in the home said the baby had been thrown.
Back in January, Martin pleaded guilty to a charge of child abuse. He was sentenced to 3 years of probation with a condition of 270 days jail time. However, 90 of those days were held in suspension and can be used at the discretion of his agent. He was also given imposed and stayed sentences of 2 years in state prison and 3 years of extended supervision, so if he fails his probation, he’ll serve those sentences.
