Jackson County Woman Sentenced for Obstructing an Officer

Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 -- 12:20 PM

-One of two people arrested after a standoff in the Town of Alma in Jackson County was sentenced in Jackson County Court on Monday.

According to authorities, back in June of last year, they executed a search warrant at a home and were searching an outbuilding when Juan Aguilar pointed a rifle out a window of the home. Deputies started negotiating with Aguilar, but he refused to come out. After an hour of negotiation, Aguilar did come out of the home, but was holding a small child and using the child as shield against the deputies. He challenged the deputies and even charged them while holding the child. However, after further negotiation, they did convince Aguilar to surrender.

Authorities found a stolen vehicle, several firearms and drug paraphernalia on the property and in the home. Aguilar and a woman, Jolene Gadbois, were arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail. During her court appearance on Monday, Gadbois pleaded guilty to resisting or obstructing an officer. Another charge was dismissed and read in. She was sentenced to 2 years of probation with a condition of 60 days jail time.
