Jackson County Woman Charged for Maing False 911 Call

Wednesday, April 10th, 2019 -- 12:19 PM

(WQOW) -A Jackson County woman faces charges after allegedly making a fake 911 call and starting a fire in a home.

According to WQOW, Kennesha Funmaker is charged with three misdemeanors and felony bail jumping. According to the complaint, police received a call about someone being hit by a car near the Ho-Chunk Casino in Black River Falls. An officer searched the area and couldn’t find the victim. He then looked at surveillance video and found the incident never happened and it was Funmaker who had made the call. Later that night, police were called to a home on Mitchell Redcloud Road about a structure fire.

The owner said Funmaker had been at the home while he was away for a short time, and when he returned, the upstairs was on fire. While on that call, the officer was dispatched to a home on Pettibone Pass because a caller found Funmaker passed out in her living room. The two did not know each other. Police say Funmaker was under the influence and unable to answer questions. Funmaker is free on $1,500 signature bond. She returns to court in May.
