Medford School Receives Ag in the Classroom Grant

Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 -- 8:56 AM

(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The Wisconsin Agriculture in the Classroom program announced it will provide over $9,000 in grants to 22 educational programs.

The Agriculture in the Classroom Matching Grant program awards up to $500 to groups sponsoring programs or projects that promote agricultural literacy in the next year. Funded projects must be targeted to grades K-12 and enhance student knowledge of the contribution made by agriculture. The grants were awarded based on the project's effectiveness in creating an ongoing education effort to reach large groups of students while using innovative approaches to promoting agricultural literacy.

Applicants were required to secure or provide equal matching funds for the proposed project. One neighboring school that received a grant is the Medford School District for their Ag Materials in the Classroom project. The Ag in the Classroom is a program to help students K-12 to explain the importance of agriculture. The program is coordinated by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation, with funding from the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation.
