Wood County Voters Approve Medical Marijuana, But Not Recreational Use

Wednesday, April 3rd, 2019 -- 11:26 AM

(WDLB) -Voters in Wood County don’t mind the idea of medical marijuana, but don’t want legalized recreational use of the drug.

Voters in Wood County on Tuesday overwhelmingly approved an advisory referendum asking whether marijuana should be legal for medicinal purposes. 11-thousand-597 people said “yes” while four-thousand-757 people voted “no”. Meanwhile, roughly 60-percent of Wood County voters rejected the idea of recreational marijuana use. Nine-thousand-861 people said the recreational use of the drug should not be legalized for adults 21 or older. Six-thousand-665 thought it should be.

The non-binding referendum questions were advisory in nature, and placed on the ballot by the Wood County Board to gauge public input on the issue.
