Even During a Blizzard, Marshfield Area Pet Shelter has Successful Breakfast Fundraiser

-During the midst of a blizzard warning on Sunday, February 24, Marshfield Area Pet Shelter hosted its 8th annual breakfast fundraiser at Holiday Inn.About 250 people enjoyed a delicious all-you-care-to-eat breakfast buffet prepared by Chef Doug at the Holiday Inn. There were also raffle baskets and other fun opportunities to help local animals. At the breakfast, MAPS' staff and volunteers were available to share more about MAPS’ 2019 plans, including new developments toward a permanent facility. The event raised $6,400, about half of what the breakfast usually generates, but far exceeding expectations given the weather. Funds raised at the breakfast help support the day-to-day operations at MAPS’ intake facility and adoption center. Last year, MAPS helped hundreds of local animals find forever homes, thanks to the support of the local community. MAPS thanks all sponsors, including the generous support of Thrivent Financial, Catholic Financial Life, Nasonville Dairy and Weber’s Farm Store. Placemat sponsors and other businesses that donated are also greatly appreciated. Special thanks to Solutionz, LLC for helping clear the parking lot, and to everyone who donated both in-person and online.
With the weather being especially treacherous for travel, MAPS also thanks everyone who chose to donate from the safety of their homes. Online donations in honor of the event were a significant part of the total funds raised. Also thanks to Marshfield Fire & Rescue personnel and Marshfield Police Department for helping with the leftovers. Marshfield Area Pet Shelter is a 501(c)3 non-profit volunteer-based organization actively engaged in raising funds to build a humane shelter for the greater Marshfield area. MAPS is currently operating in a temporary home on West 29th Street in the former airport terminal building and at an Adoption Center within Marshfield Mall.
