Governor Evers to Freeze Enrollment in Private Voucher Schools

(WRN) -Governor Tony Evers will seek to freeze enrollment in private voucher schools.The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Evers will also call for suspending creation of any new independent charter schools until 2023. The proposals, which Evers will include in the state budget he'll introduce this week, are unlikely to pass the Republican-controlled Legislature.
The GOP worked to expand both vouchers abd charter schools under the administration of former Republican Governor Scott Walker. Aides to Evers said the proposal would produce three million dollars in annual savings.
