(Wisconsin Ag Connection) -The Marshfield Clinic announced it has hired from within in choosing the next director of the National Farm Medicine Center.

Casper 'Cap' Bendixsen, Ph.D., a research scientist specializing in social-cultural anthropology, will assume the new responsibilities, effective March 3. Dr. Bendixsen joined the NFMC in 2013. He received his Ph.D. in social-cultural anthropology in 2014 from Rice University in Houston, Texas, and earned bachelor's degrees in anthropology and philosophy from the University of Idaho. His current projects include the Wisconsin Infant Study Cohort, conducted with the University of Wisconsin, which is investigating why children who grow up on farms have stronger immune systems.

Cap is also a national leader in working with rural firefighters to deliver agricultural safety and health information to their communities. And he was an executive committee member of the 2018 Wisconsin Farm Technology Days.
