Neillsville City Council Hears Report of Officers

-The Neillsville City Council heard the Report of Officers at their meeting last week.

For the month of January, the department had 124 complaints, 52 service calls, 53 traffic citations, 89 traffic warnings, 4 crash investigations, 11 ordinance citations, 18 adult arrests, 3 cases referred to the District Attorney’s office, 4 juvenile cases and 54 parking citation. Most of January’s numbers were down compared to January of 2018. Some other items of note from the department included a death investigation. The death was deemed to be natural. The Police Chief also assisted some detectives from Eau Claire in the arrest of a 53-year-old Neillsville man charged with sexual assault.

An officer also spoke to some 6th graders about safety when it comes to selling cookies and the Police Chief attended the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected Clark County Sheriff. Finally, the Chief attended a Disaster Response Preparation Meeting at the courthouse and an officer arrested a 55-year-old Neillsville man for his 3rd OWI with a child in the vehicle.
